Racquetball COMPARISON
Gearbox GB-50 vs GB-75: published racquetball specifications
A source-checked comparison of Gearbox’s published material, unstrung weight, grip-size, and string specifications for the GB-50 and GB-75 racquetball racquets.
The Gearbox GB-50 and Gearbox GB-75 are both listed by Gearbox as racquetball racquets with a 190 g unstrung weight and a 3-5/8-inch grip size. Those shared fields make the manufacturer’s distinct material and string listings the clearest published differences between the two exact models.
This is a comparison of manufacturer-published product information, not a play test. Gearbox uses outcome-oriented language in its product descriptions and technology labels; those statements are not treated here as independently verified findings about power, control, comfort, durability, or suitability.
Published specifications at a glance
| Published field | GB-50 | GB-75 |
|---|---|---|

| Weight | 190 g unstrung | 190 g unstrung |
| Grip size | 3-5/8 in | 3-5/8 in |
| String | Gearbox 16g Clear Monofilament | Gearbox 17g Monofilament |
| Grip type | Gearbox Smooth Wrap Grip | Not listed in the published specifications reviewed |
“Not listed” means the GB-75 product page did not present that field in the specifications reviewed on August 25, 2026. It does not establish that the product has no grip type or that another current retailer listing is incorrect. The manufacturer’s page for the exact model remains the place to confirm a current configuration.
Start with the fields that match
Gearbox lists the same 190 g unstrung weight for both racquets. “Unstrung” identifies the condition of the published figure; it should not be read as a measured weight for every retail unit after strings, grip changes, or other additions. The pages also list the same 3-5/8-inch grip size. That shared listed size is useful for filtering an exact configuration, but it does not determine individual hand fit or preference.
Because those two fields match on the reviewed pages, they do not distinguish the GB-50 from the GB-75 on paper. A shopper comparing a particular store listing should still check that it names the same model and configuration before assuming the published data applies.
Material listings identify different constructions
The GB-50 page lists 7000 Series Aircraft Grade Aluminum. The GB-75 page lists 60% Graphite, 40% Fiberglass. These are manufacturer-published material descriptions, so they are useful identifiers when separating the models in a catalogue or checking a listing. They do not, by themselves, quantify frame stiffness, vibration, durability, or any on-court result.
The two material fields are expressed differently: one is an aluminum designation and the other is a stated composite percentage. They should therefore be kept as the manufacturer presents them rather than converted into a common performance scale. Without an independent, disclosed measurement method, a material label is not evidence that one model will produce a particular personal outcome.
The string fields are also different listings
Gearbox lists Gearbox 16g Clear Monofilament for the GB-50 and Gearbox 17g Monofilament for the GB-75. Gauge labels and the word “clear” identify the strings named on each current product page. They do not state a string tension, prove a particular string is installed on every unit, or predict longevity and feel after use.
The GB-50 page additionally names a Gearbox Smooth Wrap Grip under grip type. The GB-75 specifications reviewed do not show an equivalent grip-type field. Treat this as a documentation difference, not as a claim about a missing component or a reason to infer a playing difference.
A practical way to use this comparison
- Match the exact model name first: GB-50 or GB-75.
- Use the shared 190 g unstrung weight and 3-5/8-inch grip size as published filters, not individual-unit measurements or fit advice.
- Compare the material and string fields as manufacturer descriptions of each configuration.
- Recheck the relevant Gearbox page before purchase, especially if a retailer’s product name, strings, or grip details differ.
